Simple. Be the change you want to see in the country. Speak out to injustice. Rally behind causes that you feel are just. Support the people you believe can affect change and stop moaning about it all and we must do something now before it’s too late.
I was listening to the radio this morning and I heard a terrible thing about South Africans. We are known as whining willies all around the world.
We complain about living in a crime-ridden country, leave, and then complain because crime happened there too. Wake up people, crime happens all around the world in every country. You can live in Sweden and have your head blown off with a shotgun or you could be in Paris and some bugger steals your bicycle from under your nose. Just because it happens less and the people in those countries don’t walk around complaining about it, they do something. If a police officer requests a bribe they say no. when they go to jail they keep fighting for what is right. Not what is easy? If you want an easy life you best stop living and climb in the box and stay there.
I believe we all should take a stand for what we believe in and stop complaining about it. If you don’t believe in bribes, don’t pay it. If you don’t believe you should pay e-Tolls don’t pay it. If you don’t like crime in your area become part of the block watch. If you think you are paying too much for beer don’t buy it.
As I said in my last article, it is time to be the change you want to see. I am tired of listening to people say I had to make changes to my life and now I am unhappy. Unhappy for the change or unhappy because you have to do something different. Let’s make 2015 the year we chose to change things to the way we want it. If you leave the change to others, don’t complain when you don’t like it.
When was the last time you did something different in your life just so you could feel alive? That simple change, taking a walk along the street could lead to meeting a neighbor you didn’t know who becomes a great friend. The cycle ride in a new area allowed you to see a white tiger only meters from the mountain bike path you are on. Just because you were there the criminal didn’t attack the person in front of you in the street.
Many small changes will make a vast difference in your life or the life of another person. Never forget this. Another scenario comes to mind, you choose to take a job in a new company that explodes onto the market without warning, and you are promoted to be an area manager from being a salesperson. You suddenly earn 5 times your original salary. Would that not be a good change in your life?
Simply put. If we don’t accept change and make it a positive force in our lives. We will be left behind to become cannon fodder for the government. You will never reach your true potential. Imagine that. You live half the life set out for you and wonder why am I unhappy.
Let’s make 2015 the year of positive change in our lives, cut costs, and move to smaller homes so we have disposable income to pay for that trip overseas we keep promising ourselves. Go walking in the mountains to get fit, don’t pay a fitness facility to get fit. Pay the gatekeeper at the Suikerbossrand Nature Reserve or the local botanical gardens. You might see a vulture or an eagle. Heavens you may enjoy just looking at the views. I know I do.
I heard someone say to me the other day “I am sitting in traffic on my way to the gym to ride a stationary bicycle to get fit”. Something is wrong here. Why not ride a bicycle during your lunch hour and enjoy the scenery? Let the world know you are alive and loving it. I know I aim to take my family out walking in the mountains and riding bicycles this year. They may hate me for it today. One day when they live in a box in the city they will say “. Do you remember when Daddy used to take us to the mountains and show us all the birds and butterflies and how we complained about the heat and how tired we were? I would love to breathe that warm summer air and the smell of pine trees again”. Relish every moment you are alive take every opportunity to love and laugh at everything.
Yesterday is a memory, today a gift, and tomorrow is a dream.
Never forget this simple truth.
